Working Principles

Working Principles

I work within a strictly limited and private framework.

I do not accept standard commissions and do not create portraits on request in the conventional sense.

My work is not decorative and not illustrative in nature.

Each project is conceived as a singular artistic artifact — one that fixes identity, memory, or continuity, and is intended to outlive the present moment.

Every work exists as a unique piece and is never repeated in subject, structure, or meaning.

On Substance

People who come to me have usually resolved practical matters already.

They are at a stage where questions of memory, legacy, and continuity become essential.

In this context, a portrait is not an image, but a point of reference —

a quiet, enduring marker of presence in time.

On Process

The work never begins with an image.

It begins with a conversation and a careful understanding of the history that needs to be fixed — personal, familial, or connected to a life’s work.

The artistic form always serves this purpose and never exists independently of it.

On Limitation

I work with a deliberately small number of projects.

In the course of a year, I accept no more than twelve clients.

This is not a matter of availability, but of responsibility and precision.

On Access

I do not promote my work publicly and rarely work through open channels.

Most projects arise through personal recommendation or via trusted advisors who already have an established relationship with the client.

This allows for discretion, privacy, and a calm working process.

Closing

If this framework resonates with you, a private conversation may be appropriate.

If it does not, that is entirely natural.

My work has never been intended for everyone.
